Dublin Dog Co started like many other companies out there, from some wild idea that came about after an “aha moment”. Owner and inventor Jason Watson had grown up on the island of Maui, Hawaii. There he spent much time outdoors, in the water, in the mountains and anywhere else a teenage boy could get in trouble. During that time he wore watches like the infamous Swatch Watch™, and the Timex Ironman™. What was common to both watches was that they had a polymer band that was impervious to water, dirt, and other outdoor goodies. Fast-forward several years to when Jason had his own dogs, “Kona” a female German Shepherd Dog and “Jake”, a male lab mix. Both of these dogs love the outdoors, and if it’s nasty, stinky, or otherwise disgusting these dogs love it. As such, their traditional nylon and cotton collars began to harbor those odors and moisture, causing them to smell like dirty laundry. All it took was for Jason to look down at his wrist and there it was, the proverbial “Aha moment”. That spawned our very first product, the “Original All Style, No Stink” dog collar that launched back on July, 7, 2007, or 7/7/07 (call us a little superstitious).
Dublin Dog gets its name from Watson’s Irish roots as well as from the general sense of good luck and good fortune brought to those who have dogs in their lives. All of us at Dublin Dog feel luckier to have dogs as part of our daily lives and are thrilled to share that passion with you, our customers. We’re the lucky ones in this equation.
