Dublin Dog Co., felt like they had found their own pot of gold after returning home from the HH Backer Christmas Trade Show in Rosemont, IL.  During the three day event, running from October 12th-14th, Dublin Dog secured over 100 new retailers and shipped out over 2,000 dog collars in the first five days following the show to stores across the United States. “We’re thrilled with the feedback and overwhelming response to our collars,” smiled Jason Watson, Founder and Top Dog of Dublin Dog. When asked about the success of the show and business, Watson said, “I believe it’s our unique styling and desire to be unlike anything else on the market which really helped us. All of our designers come from the fashion industry and not from the pet industry which is reflected in our color choices and unique style elements."

Their new found popularity has not gone to their head though, as designers are already expanding their line to include two new sizes and exploring various new material mixes and color palettes for 2008. Several lucky folks got a sneak peak at the new “Arrgyle” and “Camo” prints scheduled to hit stores later this year.

Jennifer Kane, Customer Account Specialist at Dublin Dog, stated, “This is what we’ve been waiting for; to show people that you can have a beautifully designed dog collar that’s as much about style as it is function.”

Dublin Dog is a Charlotte, NC based company who manufacturers the “Original all style, no stink dog collar."  Each collar design is hand-filled with liquid polymers to create the multi-layered, waterproof designs. In addition, Dublin Dog designs and produces dog ID tags, human apparel and is coming out with several new products later this year.

“Dublin Dog, You Should be so Lucky”
By: Shanna Stabi

You can learn a lot from a dog, like how to be spontaneous, enjoy the moment your in, and make friends with just about everybody you meet. “We should all be so lucky”, says the founder of Dublin Dog Co, Jason Watson, who had been inspired by his own two dogs and has created a lifestyle brand that’s as much about a way of thinking, as it is the products he creates.

Nearly 40 percent of all households in America own at least one dog. And anyone who has ever owned a dog can testify that dogs like to have fun, which means getting into anything that is smelly, wet, muddy, or otherwise nasty! Such was the case when Watson and his wife settled in Charlotte, NC with their German Shepherd Kona and rescued lab-mix Jake, also the model for their logo.

Laughing, Watson said, “Frankly after a day at the park, our dogs stink.” And, from necessity came invention. Watson, who loves the outdoors, wears an Ironman watch, able to withstand days at the lake, workouts, showers, etc and he rarely takes it off. That’s when it hit him; he wanted to create a collar that had a similar composition to the waterproof watchband he had been wearing. “My dog’s nylon and leather collars smelled like old sponges,” said Watson. This is when he began researching and testing materials and landed on a special polymer blend, rubber blend.

Each patent pending collar is hand-injected with liquid polymers and molded into three dimensional designs and patterns. Dublin Dog’s collars are 100 percent waterproof, don’t harbor odor-causing bacteria, can be cleaned with warm water and glide easily over a dog’s coat.

“A collar is like a necklace. It’s the one article that your dog almost always wears, so it needs to reflect your dog’s unique personality,” says Watson. Dublin Dog has a full line of designs and sizes with an equal blend of form and function. Collections of designs include everything from Daisy Daze to Lots O’ Luck.

Jake and Kona aren’t the only lucky dogs that have embraced Watson’s invention. “Faith the Dog,” the most photographed dog in the world and guest of Oprah Winfrey, Montel Williams, CNN and CNBC is the official spokes “dog” of Watson’s company. “Faith,” the two-legged bi-ped has been inspiring people across the world with her unique ability to walk upright despite being born with two deformed front legs. “Faith is the definition of lucky,” says Watson who was inspired after seeing “Faith” on an episode of Oprah. Watson met “Faith” and owner Jude Stingfellow at the 2007 Global Pet Expo. “We couldn’t be happier that Faith and owner Stingfellow chose Dublin Dog Co. to endorse,” added Watson.

Dublin Dog officially launches their website on July 7, or 7.07.07 at 7:07am. Needless to say, Watson’s lucky number is “7”. Find collars, dog tags, human apparel and more at http://www.dublindog.com// or call the toll-free number at 866-707-1231.
